Cocoa Orange Slush

I have so many oranges I don’t know what to do with them.  I picked some off from dad’s orange tree and came home with a whole bag full.  Why I thought I needed so many oranges at one time, is beyond me but, I’m finding ways to make good use of them.  Chocolate and orange sounds like a weird combination, but it’s actually quite tasty.  I remember when Starbucks had an orange chocolate drink years ago.  I worked there at the time and I remember thinking it was the worst drink they created. Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice with KitchenAid Citrus Juicer Attachment

There’s nothing like a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, especially when you actually picked the oranges off of an orange tree, instead of placing them in a plastic baggie and weighing them at the grocery store.  My husband drinks orange juice like kids drink milk.  Kids drink milk, right?  I did, like it was going out of style.  I drank so much milk when I was younger, I was given the nickname “Milk-Bucket” from my dad.  I actually never drink milk anymore…funny. Hand-Dipped Pretzel Snack (Gluten-Free)

There’s something about digging your hand into a homemade snack that’s just so rewarding!  It has that extra touch of love that you won’t get from a store bought snack.  I made white chocolate dipped pretzels for the Valentine’s Day Snack Mix that I made a few weeks ago, and loved them so much, I was inspired to make a gluten free version!  I will be snacking on these puppies while I’m fighting nausea, playing road trip games, and probably blaring 90’s music Continue reading

Maple Banana Protein-Fueled Smoothie

This protein-fueled smoothie is a perfect breakfast on-the-go option!  I wish this picture of it was a little more attractive but I seriously was rushing, running out the door for work which didn’t leave me anytime to get creative with a photo. I promise it’s delicious, filling, light, and satisfying!  Isn’t anything with peanut butter delicious?  Yep, pretty much. Valentine’s Day Snack Mix

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  This snack mix is a perfect Valentine’s Day treat.  I had so much fun making these!  I wish I had a child, so I could send he/she off to school with these to hand out to all of their classmates.  Some day, I’ll get to play mommy life, and I’ll love it.  But until then, I’ll make cute little snack packs for my husband and I.  Nah, we have to share with someone else!   Continue reading

Valentine’s Day Almond Meal Cookies (Gluten Free & Paleo)

It’ that time of year again!  Valentine’s Day calls for yummy paleo cookies in our household!  This has been the fifth Valentine’s Day that I have made these types of cookies (some sort of paleo cookie with a chocolate heart) for my husband for Valentine’s Day.  He looks forward to them every year.  Last year, around 2 days before Valentine’s Day he hinted that he’d been craving the cookies that I make every year. Peanut Butter Oat Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cookie 65

Want to know one (of many) of my food weaknesses?  Peanut butter and honey!  Seriously, it’s the best combination.  I wish I didn’t like it so much because it results in consuming too much.  Right now, I’m on a peanut butter and honey on a gluten free waffle kick.  I just can’t get enough; so, I decided to make a cookie with that combination.  I like chunky cookies, so I had to add the oats, and it’s hard to leave out chocolate chips in any cookie, duh.   Continue reading
