Hugo’s: Restaurant Review

Seriously, I can’t even on these sticky buns.  I was looking for gluten free friendly brunch places in our area for mine and my husband’s Day Date.  It’s a bummer that there isn’t anything in our hometown like this, but luckily, the valley and LA are so close to us, which are filled with options like this restaurant.  Hugo’s has 3 locations, and we went to the one in Agoura Hills, that’s closest to us. After eating here, I’d have to say, it’s probably a good thing we don’t have one in our hometown because I’d go every weekend for these sticky buns, and that would be a problem.

We were there around 10:30 on a Sunday, and got seated right away.  We sat in their indoor patio, which was decorated nice.  They had pebbles, slate, concrete walls, and a lot of greenery.  Our waiter was very friendly, and was very patient with my indecisiveness on their menu.  I seriously wanted to order everything on the menu, it all sounded that good.

I decided on the Almond Energy Pancakes. (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, containes nuts):  Prepared with nuts, seeds, quinoa, shredded coconut, puffed rice, dried cherries, and cranberries. Garnished with fresh strawberry slices. Served with spiced organic cane syrup.

My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict.  (vegetarian, gluten free)  Poached eggs on toasted English muffins or gluten-free flat bread with house-smoked pork loin and Hollandaise sauce. Can be ordered with vegetarian Canadian bacon upon request. Served with Breakfast potatoes, turmeric ricen, or fresh fruit.

And then, of course, we had to order these sticky buns to try!  Hugo’s Sticky Buns (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, contains nuts)  Two warm and crispy sticky buns, glazed with organic vanilla sugar icing. Topped with caramelized pecan sauce.

Everything was delicious!!  I definitely recommend this place.  Whether you live in the area, or just just stopping by on vacation, this is a must stop location for some yummy food!  We talk about this place all the time, and have not had the opportunity to go back yet.  I think next time I’ll try the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast.  But then I LOVED the pancakes that it’s hard to order something new, especially when you loved something that much.  Here I am with the indecisiveness for visit #2 that hasn’t even happened yet.
